Kitchen Gadgets

Ok, I admit, I have a pantry FULL of kitchen gadgets that I NEVER use. They are a pain to dig out, set up and wash. However, there are a few kitchen gadgets that I simply could not get by without, or, well, I would not WANT to do without.
1. A good set of knives -- With a good set of knives, I can do without a lot of other things. I use them to chop, slice, cut, crush, dice, peel, carve and trim any number of foods.
2. A good cutting board -- I am hard on cutting boards. Plastic simply will not do. I have a set of 3 bamboo cutting boards in various sizes as well as a marble cutting board that has a cutting groove carved into it and a built in cheese slicer (I live for multi-purpose items!).
3. A meat slicer -- I am perfectly capable of cutting meat myself, but for thin sliced or shaved meats, a meat slicer is a must! Since we often purchase slab ends of lunch meat, our meat slicer gets a LOT of use!
4. A food grinder -- There is nothing like ham spread made from leftover glazed ham! Ground meat can be used in so many dishes. We have turkey burgers and turkey tacos after Thanksgiving, ham spread and "ham-burgers" after Christmas and chicken salad and chicken casseroles frequently after roasting a chicken. Ground meats freeze and keep better than cut meats.
5. A good convertible mixer -- My mixer is a stand mixer, but the top comes off to make a handheld mixer. My mixer has whisk attachments, beaters and pastry hooks. If I had a good KitchenAid with all of the attachments, I could get rid of my meat grinder, my blender, my food processor and my juicer (most of which I don't use anyways).
That's really about it. I do have a few specialty gadgets that get pulled out on occasion like a blender and a popcorn maker, but for the most part, all of my appliances sit on the shelf and collect dust.
